Prefab double-house rising

In this project, a house for 2 families in the suburbs of Reykjavík, the main challenge was working with the prefabricated concrete elements which the house is constructed of. Using prefab-elements is a rapidly growing building method in Iceland, and often the preferred design approach is to camouflage the building method - making an effort to hide the inevitable juncture of the elements. In this project the opposite point of departure is taken - the juncture is emphasized and used as a decorative element in the facades. The irregular shapes of the elements, together with the chosen fenestration, create a Mondrian like pattern in the fair-faced concrete facades.
The house is designed in collaboration with architect Theresa Himmer.

Art-School Carnival

Some nice stuff from the Art-Academy's "carnival" in January. I was tutoring there for a 3 week period in January - in a workshop on the topic of Carnival. We are looking forward to participating more with the students at the academy as we will be curating the diploma exhibition at Kjarlvalsstaðir in April - together with artist Finnur Arnar.

CONFERENCE - NEW MEDIA AND DEMOCRACY CENTER IN VEJLE DK

I attended a exciting conference in the city of Vejle, DK. The topic was to generate a vision for this new hybrid house, the modern library. We had a whole day of input - brainstorm/conceptulization - hands on doing. See the interesting model our group came up with.
